Sports Traider Hits Salford

Please see our News in the UK Press. We are actively seeking opportunities to help our charity connect with more organizations and to grow our campaigns. We have lots of opportunities so please get in touch.

We are pleased to announce that we are now offering financial support to help local clubs and community groups.

North East Lincolnshire Community Safety Partnership is supporting Sports Traider to provide funding to grassroots clubs across the borough to help increase engagement and activity.

Payments of up to £1,000 are available for new and existing grassroots clubs, to provide clothing and equipment so vulnerable adults and children can take part in sporting activities.

Sports Traider founder, Lance Haggith, said:

“We’re excited to launch the Sports Traider Encouraging Participation (STEP) Fund, which we hope will encourage young people to participate in sporting activities no matter what their background or abilities.

“Our key target groups are grassroots clubs who need financial support, clothing or equipment to increase activity amongst vulnerable adults and children.

“The community pot generated by the store is kept local, and applications are sought from anyone in North East Lincolnshire.

“The more customers we have, the more funding can be channelled into the local community.

“We want people to be aware of the store in Freshney Place shopping centre and that everything in store is £5 or less.”

Application for funding can be submitted from Wednesday 17 February 2021.

The closing date for applications is Thursday 18 March 2021, and hopeful groups will be notified on 31 March.

Councillor Ron Shepherd, cabinet member for Safer and Stronger Communities at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:

“This is a great example of a local business giving something back to the community.

“Having access to grassroots sports can benefit people’s health and wellbeing, and can create strong communities who have a sense of ownership over their club or team.

“If there is a community leader or parent out there who wants to start a new group, club, or activity, Sports Traider would like to hear from them about their ambitions, plans and needs to get started.

“The offer is universal to all current clubs across the borough.”

Amanda Austin, centre director at Freshney Place shopping centre commented: “Sports Traider is a real success story and they have been extremely popular with our customers.

This new fund will be of huge benefit to the local community and we wish them the best of success.”
